Do you have an analytical mindset and a flare for numbers? Ever thought about why stores have the level of stock that they do? How about combining your love of fashion with your passion for numbers?
Merchandising is one of those careers few people initially know about. Our Merchandising teams work alongside our Buying teams to ensure the right quantity of stock is being bought in the right sizes and colour-ways at the right time in order to maximise profits.
Like Buying, Merchandising also has a set career path industry wide and at House of Fraser, this starts with an Allocator role.
Based in our lively London, Baker Street office, our Allocators work across a multitude of areas such as Childrenswear, Menswear, Womenswear, Beauty and Home. They provide crucial support to the Merchandising teams and are responsible for allocating and managing stock levels, reviewing product performance, creating stock packages for different stores (yes, stock really does sell differently depending on the geographic location!) They also develop strong relationships with our international suppliers.
What do we look for?
- Previous Merchandising work experience is desirable but not essential
- Previous shop floor experience
- An analytical or business related degree
- If you don’t have a degree, a short course in Merchandising is worth considering, however not essential
- A passion for retail
